Process to change to the new curriculum

  1. Find out which curriculum is right for you.We have a new BSIE 2016 curriculum that will apply to all students admitted to the BSIE program on or after August 2016. However, the IE Department is committed to extend the benefits of this new curriculum to a larger number of students that were admitted to the program before August 2016. For that reason, the department has created three (3) Transition Curriculums (additional to the new curriculum 2016) which will provide student with alternative curriculums that will have the same benefits of the new curriculum. Transitions curriculums are created by segregating students depending on how far is the student in the IE program.

Figure 1 (“Which curriculum is best for me?”) shows a decision flowchart that will help answer the question of which curriculum will be best suited for you. Figure 2 is also provides the infomation linking the students with the corresponding curriculum but in the form of a Venn diagram.

  1. Make an evaluation of your academic progress towards the new curriculum. The evaluation of the progress towards the new or transition curriculum is a collaborative effort between the Academic Counselor and the student.

2.1 To begin this process the student should familiarize with the curriculum applicable-the one selected in Step 1. Links to the new curriculums are provided next:

2.2 Using as data your academic record, perform a self-evaluation of your progress towards the curriculum.

2.3 Make an appointment with the Academic Counselor, Mrs. Griselys Rosado. Appointments related to evaluations for progress towards new curriculum and transition curriculums will be scheduled for Fridays on a 20-minutes time slot. Contact the department at 787-832-4040 ext. 3576 or 3204, for more information on how to make the appointment.

  1. Go to the appointment with Academic Counselor. Be on time to your appointment and bring your self-evaluation with you. The Academic Counselor will also evaluate your progress and will fill out the paperwork related to your change to the new curriculum (remember it is not automatic).
